How many of you have wondered what is on the inside of your regulator or how it works? What do all those markings around your cylinder mean? Do you avoid service centres because you are frightened someone may ask you if your regulator is a Piston or Diaphragm? Or is the total of your equipment knowledge the fact that if your regulator starts to free flow, you hit it! Then the PADI Equipment Speciality is for you.

By identifying where a problem stems from could save you time and money. This simple information can tell you whether there is a need of the attention of a service engineer or a readily available quick fix that could save you money.

Any qualified diver may attend and the programme is ideally designed for all levels of experience from new divers looking to purchase their own equipment in the future, experienced divers who already own their equipment and it is a must for anyone thinking of moving up the PADI ladder to Divemaster and above.

To Start

How do I get started?
As with all of the diving education programmes at Plan2Dive you start with a deposit of £50. There are no manuals so you don’t have to worry about any home study.

Action

What will I do?
During your programme you will learn the following:

  • Develop your practical knowledge of the theory, principles and operation of diving equipment
  • Enable you to perform routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures
  • Enable you to store diving equipment properly
  • Provide you with simple suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations
  • Introduce you to new equipment

You will complete one day of intense equipment related training. In our fully equipped multi-media classrooms you will learn how to maintain your equipment properly thus extending its lifetime, recognise equipment related problems and fix basic equipment faults, tune and check a regulator, BCD maintenance procedures and basic drysuit repairs.

These programmes are run by one of Plan2Dive fully qualified and certified scuba equipment technician.

How long will it take?
The PADI Equipment Speciality is a one day classroom based programme.

Requirements

What will I need?
The PADI Open Water Diver certification or equivalent is the prerequisite for the Equipment Specialist.
